Welcome to the Upper Credit Humane Society's
"Foster Kitten Program"!
We are a small group of volunteers who operate this unique program for the UCHS.
In 2010 we found homes for 198 kittens. We are once again hoping that the numbers will be lower, but people are not getting the message and having their pets spayed/neutered.
Jupiter and Puzzle are currently being shown at the Pet Valu in Milton.

Please Note that we will not be in Pet Valu in Georgetown at the 235 Guelph Street location on Saturdays for now.
For available kittens/cats - please visit the Upper Credit Humane Society site at www.uppercredit.com

Most of the kittens that come to the shelter are placed in our care until they are old enough to be adopted out. Our kittens live with Foster families and are treated as members of that household. All of our kittens have their first set of injections, are spayed or neutered, dewormed and micro-chipped prior to adoption. The kittens will be with the Foster family until they reach the minimum requirement of - 10 weeks old and a weight of 2.0+ lbs before they have the necessary surgery. Around the 10 week period we will post pictures of the kittens that are just about or are ready for adoption, so watch this site regularly. If you are looking for something specific, e-mail your request and we will try and help you. The Foster families play a major role in the care and socializing of the kittens, so in return we ask that the kitten be kept in safety as an indoor cat and have no further cosmetic surgery.
Okay... so show me the kittens!
For more information on how to meet our kittens, please call the shelter or e-mail us at kittens@uppercredit.com and please be sure to include a phone number where we can contact you! Due to the high demand, our kittens will be adopted to the first approved family.
Welcome!
Adoption Fees and details
*****OUR KITTEN ADOPTION $160.00 (CASH ONLY)*****
This fee includes spaying or neutering, the first set of vaccinations, deworming, and micro chipping.
Kittens are ready for adoption at 10 weeks of age (or over 2 lbs)and after surgery.
As all of the kittens are in foster homes, we must respect our Foster Families and their activities, so home visits are not available. Please send us an e-mail about the kitten you would like to see and we will let you know when and where they will be showcased.
A $60.00 non-refundable, non-transferable, deposit may be given to hold a kitten until time of final adoption.
All adopters must first have an adoption interview and complete a questionnaire to be approved to adopt a kitten. Click here to download a copy of the questionnaire – please be sure to bring this with you.
Enough already... show me the kittens!

Can you help make a difference?
During the 2009 season we did! The kitten foster program made a big difference in over 216 kitten’s lives. Many would not have seen 2010 or if they did, would have added to the feral cat population. Did you know that by breaking the reproductive cycle hundreds and hundreds of unwanted kittens will not suffer the hardships of trying to survive outside?
After last year’s bumper crop of kittens we know that we are going to need a lot more help! Our Director found herself over whelmed at times last year, so this year we would like to organise a full support team. This team will need to work very closely with one another as each set of responsibilities overlaps' on the next.
We are looking for volunteers who can support the Director by taking responsibility for duties such as:
Intake coordinator, Scheduler for vet visits, Traffic coordinator for transporting the kittens to appointments or to show, Foster coordinator, Website updater, Advertising, Fund raising and of course we are always looking for more Foster Families. We have had some new volunteers come forward but we will need more.
We know a lot of you can’t take in kittens as Foster families but we are hoping you can help with some of these jobs.
If you would like more information please email us at kittens@uppercredit.com .
